Home / Development of a Portable Station for the first aid treatment of burn injury

Design & Development of a medical device
Requirement

Development of a portable station for cleaning and dressing (treatment) of burn injury with least manual intervention to reduce skill dependency of the medical staff and pain thus resulting in quick and better patient care.

Case study

Developed the wound treatment device and process after extensive literature survey and use of covenant standards for medical use. The kit is designed to perform the operations like debriding, warming, massaging, creaming and irrigation. The pressurized air from the air compressor is passed through a nozzle tip to create a fine stream of air. Antiseptic cream or saline water is mixed with a stream of air to remove dead skin and apply antiseptic ointment to the affected area.

Result

Ergonomic Mobile wound station is designed with roller mechanisms for the agile movement. Work involved, mechanical, instrumentation & electrical design & drawings using CAD tools with BOM for manufacturing.
